CASCADE: Cascade hops are by far the most popular hop for brewing beer in the United States. It has a floral/fruit/spice characteristics and medium aroma which gives it a well-balanced bittering potential. Cascade hops were developed by the U.S.D.A. breeding program in Oregon and released in 1972.

COLUMBUS: Columbus hops offer a sharp earthy smell with clean bittering and is in the Super High Alpha variety.  Columbus hops are often used in American IPA Styles and Bitter Ales.

CHINOOK:  Chinook hops serve a dual purpose of smooth bitterness and full flavor with herbal, almost smoky characteristics.  The Chinook hops were developed by the U.S.D.A. breeding program in Washington State and released in 1985.  These hops are commonly used in American-Style Ales, Winter Ales, Porter, Stout, Barley Wine, and Lager. 

CENTENNIAL:  Centennial hops offer a dual purpose of mid to high bitterness with a medium aroma consisting of floral and citrus; often referred to as “Super Cascade” making it very popular with Ales and IPAs.  The Centennial hop was developed by Washington State University and was released in 1990. 

MOUNT HOOD:  Mount Hood hops have a mild aroma with low alpha acids, beta acids, cohumulone, and high humulene content make it the prime choice for Lagers, Pilsners, Bocks, and Wheat Beers.  The Mount Hood hops were developed by the U.S.D.A. breeding program out of Oregon and released in 1989, while being named after the famous Oregon volcano.

WILLAMETTE:  Willamette hops are the most popularly grown hop variety in the United States and accounts for up to 20% of total acreage grown in the U.S.  This hop was developed through the U.S.D.A. breeding program out of Oregon and released in 1976 and was named after the Willamette River that flows through the state’s hops region.  The Willamette hop offers a low alpha acid content and mild aroma of slightly spicy and pleasant which makes it popular with commercial beer makers.
